Both Kanye West and Chris Brown have been a disgrace to the music industry this year and there I am certainly backing stores in their recent mission to not sell the new Chris Brown album.

Are these people deserving of the treatment they are getting at the moment?

One of the reasons that people are so annoyed with West is that he doesnt respect artists that can sing better than he does. He will not admit that anyone other than the people he likes are any good which is why he deserves to fail. I cannot say that after listening to these artists that they are anymore than CHAV artists. However when he insulted Taylor Swift live on television and said that Beyonce’s song was a lot better he was out of order. He is clearly wrong as it was put down to the public vote. For far too long the R & B artists have been taking control of the music scene with their very poor music indeed and as soon as a country girl comes in all hell breaks loose. West has sure got some growing up to do!

Verdict: Drop him from the label and shame him, no one who is that up themselves deserves to be in the business. Even President Obama thinks he is a Jackass!

Chris Brown

Chris is complaining a lot at the moment as stores are refusing to put his new album on the shelves. Why? The simple reason for people not being interested in him is because he is a violent, arrogant person who didnt get the punishment he deserved. Community service, I would have given him five years for his music let alone the charges of assault.

Verdict: You walked into this Chris, don’t blame anyone other than yourself.

On top of this neither Chris or Kanye can play an instrument including guitars and drum kits something that Taylor Swift and a rock artist can do without thinking. Perhaps their career will end up in a club using a bit of DJ equipment.

With the recent release of Guitar Hero 5 as well as the future release of DJ Hero another Hero game has been announced in the form of Band Hero. This game is similar to Guitar Hero in the way that you can mix and match a variety of the Guitar Hero World Tour instruments to play in band with your friends. This can mean any combination of guitars, drums and of course the microphone. There is a big difference in fact between Band Hero and Guitar Hero and it could be something that makes Activision even more money out of the Hero franchise. While Guitar Hero is off concentrating on Rock and DJ hero is off focusing on club/mixing, Band Hero comes in for the general audience with a mix of pop/rock, and other mainstream artists.

Some of the artists already confirmed for the game include, Lily Allen, Avril Lavigne, Janet Jackson, The All-American Rejects and Aly and AJ. On top of this 2008s entire biggest selling artist in the USA, Taylor Swift is set to actually appear in the game along with three of her biggest songs Love Story, Picture to Burn and You Belong with Me. As well as this Maroon 5s Adam Levine will also feature in the game so fans of both of these artists are sure to purchase the game. The games creators have chosen the artists very carefully, getting the biggest artist of 2008 is not a bad move at all and although she suffered recently at the MTV Video Music Awards after being told (unfairly) that her video was not as good as Beyonce by Kanye West she continues to make a big impact on the future of country music.

If you are interested in Guitar Hero or Band Hero and wish to take your skills into playing a proper guitar then why not look into buying a electric guitars or perhaps even one of those bass guitars to really get you started.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve seen or heard about the video footage of Kanye West jumping on the stage during this years MTV video awards whilst Taylor Swift was making her acceptance speech.

Taylor is no idol of mine, and I think the MTV video awards are a waste of time, but come on – let the girl have her moment in the spotlight. As a society, has all respect and decorum been forgotten about? Apparently so, just take a look through the lyrics that Kanye uses in his songs. Now having done that, and felt dirty for hours afterwards by doing so, I’m not sure why I would expect anything less from him.

Which brings me to another point – since when did pop music become such a lifeless joke? Most of the stuff in the charts is just crap icing on top of crap cake. These days I just can’t be bothered with pop music. It probably says something about our culture that we don’t even care to think beyond the shallowest levels in anything that we do. All most people want is pithy, nonsensical platitudes in our music and copies of copies for the rest of their lives.

But I digress, so let’s get back to Kanye the moronic egomaniac. Should we expect better? Probably not As long as we reward idiocy with airplay, youtube clips and massive publicity, we’ll continue to get more of the same. Everybody wants their five minutes of fame even if it’s at the expense of someone, anyone (or everyone) else. I have no idea why we should take any notice of what these people say or do. There have mostly done nothing that warrants us valuing their opinion.

Of course, the same is true here – who cares what I say or do? Who I am to be giving my opinion??  I love to rant and rave about anything that crosses the circuits in my little brain – whether I’m qualified to comment on it or not.

Maybe I should start writing pop music…

Taylor Swift Backstage Reaction to Kanye West Interrupting Her Acceptance Speech

The world was shocked last week at MTV’s Video Music Awards as Taylor Swift deservingly got the award for the best female video. However her night and many others watching was ruined when the rather selfish Kanye West stormed onto the stage and stated Beyonces video was much better. The quote was;

“Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’m gonna let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all-time”

For one Taylor Swift is not a rich artist as of yet and although she was hugely successful in 2008 she did not make as much money as Beyonce. Yet still her video contains an original story set in a closed school. She asked her brothers school if they would let her do the video there. She spent hours of her life working on the planning of the video itself. Beyonce obviously already has a huge following so the video that she made was just like any other. The thing is, a bit of dancing with a couple of extras is what happens in all of Beyonces videos. The good thing is that all of Swift’s videos to date have taken time, planning and have had a storyline to them. Of course Beyonce soends hours learning dance routines but like shakira there are only so many dancing videos you can watch before getting bored.

However it bought huge amounts of people to watch and re-watch the show and even though Kanye was boo’d off stage no publicity is bad publicity right? So it begs the all important question. Did MTV and Kanye set out to upset Taylor from the start or was it all just a coincidence? The thing that caused controversy at last year’s event was of course Russell Brand’s rants. Are MTV just trying to get viewers? Wait and see if something big happens next year, after all three starts a trend.
