Why, you say would anyone desire to have an old instrument as opposed to a new one? Time will only improve the sound of a well made guitar. The sound of the guitar will change over time and become more melodious .
What does it mean to have a vintage guitar.

There are other factors that matter when you are thinking about a vintage guitar. A guitar is more valuable if it is not available, perhaps made in a limited run. The Martin guitar company produced various models of an individual design in short runs.

The Les Paul Gold Top guitar had a particularly cherished finish and golden color which also aged well. Like the Fender Stratocaster, certain times can produce better instruments due to the manufacturing process and quality control. There are also signature guitars which are usually endorsed by a famous guitar player and bears their name. This does not make them vintage but it does increase their value. If a guitar was played by someone like Jimi Hendrix or BB King, that would make it more valuable. If you could prove that Santana played the guitar, that would make it more valuable as well. Regardless of age, a guitar can be valuableas a well rounded instrument on its own.

Guitar amplifiers are also considered to be vintage in some cases. Marshall,Vox and Fender amplifiers are prized for their delicate sounds. The older amps worked on tubes, not solid state and have a delicate sound quality.

A guitar can be as much of a work of art as any other prized object. History is in your hands if you have a vintage guitar. The history of the guitar adds to its enjoyment and collectability. The sound of rock and roll itself are contained in these instruments.

Many of the vintage guitars we see today, have been restored, to make them sound and play as close to the as possible.

In the simplest terms, a guitar tab is a word that is used to describe a musical notation, which may contain either numbers or letters and explains to the musician where to place his/her fingers on the instrument. Guitar tabs consist of multiple lines and is often called a ‘staff notation.’ These lines, which are present in guitar tabs, each represent one of the guitar strings.

New musicians often find guitar tabs to be especially baffling in that the strings are written backwards. The highest string is found at the top of the guitar tabs, which is often difficult to learn since most people would expect that guitar tabs would be written from top to bottom instead of the other way around. In actuality, guitar tabs are written from the highest to lowest and the numbers on each line represent the guitar fret. In order to understand guitar tabs, all beginner guitarists need to learn string placement and how to correctly read frets.

Generally written in standard format, guitar tabs may slightly vary depending on the sheet music publisher. Even still, guitar tabs are easier to read than learning staff notation. Because of it’s visual representation, new musicians can be more at ease reading guitar tabs than any other kind of music.

When learning the guitar , musicians will become familiar with the instrument and how it works. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways, including private instruction, informational reference books and videos. In some cases, classroom lessons may even be used to help better equip the musician to learn guitar and how to read guitar tabs. As the musician becomes familiar with the terms used to describe a guitar, including the neck, fret, string, chord, etc., they can begin to easily read guitar tabs.

In the beginning, guitar tabs can be intimidating. Multiple lines and letters, numbers or other symbols may seem quite confusing. With practice and time, a guitar tab will be as easy to understand as the links found your favorite website. Few musicians can play by ear without first learning a song via sheet music, which is why reading guitar tabs is the first step that a guitarist must take before learning how to play.

If you need further information on finding a guitar instructor, check the local yellow page listing or stop by your local high school or college and ask the music director for a recommendation.

A lot of Americans will not understand what spotify is but do not worry it will be making its way across the atlantic very soon. At last Europe has managed to get a piece of decent technology before the Americans!

Back to the point, Spotify is a service that allows people to listen to their favourite artists without pay, illegal activity or that much annoyance. It works in a very similar way that the radio does apart from you get to search for the things that you want rather than listen to the stuff you dont want. There are so many reasons why everyone should have this including being able to listen to entire albums and making a playlist, the only downside are the adverts but they do not appear often. If you are prepared to pay that bit extra then you can use it on the mobile as well as get rid of all of the adverts too!

Spotify is great as you no longer have to download music before you listen to it so in theory music downloader’s have no excuses for why they are downloading music because you could give the album a listen too on Spotify before thinking about buying the album.

Although Spotify is like the radio it has no annoying DJ’s using the latest DJ Equipment who talk for 50 minutes of the hour and play around 2-3 songs. You get to choose the music that you listen too and you can pause and skip too!

The limits are endless on Spotify and with the future release to the US it is going to make it big.

If you are a big fan of music then why not think about getting one of your very own drum kits. If you are really into your guitars then consider getting a bass guitar amp.

it has been said that the people who are currently getting all of ther music for free are actually spending more money on music than the people that arent taking part in ilegal downloads. If this really is the case then maybe the government should stop fussing over it and actually allow it through.

The thing is these kinds of things are happening because people are downloading the album just for a listen before they decide on whether to buy it or not which I think is actually a good idea. There are many albums out there that only have a few decent tracks and sometimes a small preview just isn’t enough to tell if you are going to like the song or not.

Then people will go out and buy the album which is actually a really good thing when it works. So although there are many artists like Lily Allen that are complaining because it doesn’t give the smaller artists the money they deserve it could now be put down to the quality of the music that they play. If your music is rubbish then it doesnt matter if your music is downloaded or not. However with the fact that these downloader’s are spending more money than non downloader’s what should be done?

It would seem that less money should be spent trying to stop these people and more spent trying to get the people to buy the music.

One of the main things that can be learnt out of all of this is that artists should not always jump to conclusions that the thing damaging their sales is the illegal music downloaders, it could be the normal people or just because the music isnt that good.

For all things music look into Behringer and if you are interested in your Guitars then considering getting a Fender Twin.

As many people will know this year is the 20th anniversary of the debut album from Nirvana who in case you didnt already know a grunge band that were very popular before Kurt Cobain died. Nevermind brought the band huge successes and I think it shocked them all a lot and none of them really seemed to want it.

The band was formed in Washington and Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic were in the band right from the start. Nirvana seemed to always suffer a problem with their drummer and the only one that really stuck around was Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) was around from 1990 until the end.

The first song that was released under the official name Nirvana was Love Buzz in 1988 and the first album Bleach was not released until the following year which was highly influenced by The Melvins. Cobain apprently got happier and changed his writing style from the anger of bleach to what people heard when Nevermind was released.

Kurt didnt like the fame as it meant he had to play for fans that hated him in his childhood and this actually really upset him.

After the apparent suicide that Cobain suffered Nirvana still remains today as popular as they were back in the day and newer albums are always being released with different remixes, live songs and b-sides.

If they were around today it is difficult to say if they would be into the newer instruments like newer drum kits but one thing is for certain the way in which they played their guitars would not have changed and the brilliant music would have carried on.

Try the Gibson Acoustic for a really good guitar experience and as a final point, Nirvana were behind the whole music genre of grunge so let us not forget it!

There are so many people out there that have bought the iphone simply because of all of the great music capabilities that it contains like the ipod and spotify and now this has reflected through the app store. I only really got it so I would have a bit of room in my pockets, now I realise what an awesome phone I really have,.

There are now several different apps that are available to download for fans of Guitars as well as the fans of things like Rock Band.If you look into it then you will find a Rock Band app for around £5.99 which is stupid because out in America it works out a lot cheaper, we are always gettign ripped off over here. Although everything can be done on the app in the same way that it can be done in the console game, singing is done by tapping and not actually singing which is a bit of a shame. You can even choose to give more money to the bigger companies by opting to buy additional content just like you can on the console versions.

There are many free options out there to take for this as well which is always good but you will find it hard to find something as good as the paid ones. There are also cheaper options to the official Rock Band app which may be worth looking into.

Fir fans of Acoustic Guitars or Electric Guitars then there are guitar tuning apps for you and most of which are actually free.

There are also many other apps you can look into like quizzes and other bits of fun. Many of these quizzes are quite a laugh to play as you can play them over Wi-Fi with your friends, they can ask you any questions at all and my personal favourite is name that guitar rift.

Why not think about going into the app stor and looking for an app that may suit your guitar needs.

Garden Table Diddley Bow

Music should always be fun. It should be easy for anyone with almost any level of aptitude to make some form of music. Unfortunately we are taught that, in order to make music, you need to study music tablature, learn scales and chords, spend money on expensive musical instruments and practice loads. But this is far from the truth.

Have you ever see any African tribes people dancing to drums? These talented drummers will have never been to music college. Obviously they aren’t familiar with scales, chords or paradiddles. But they know how to have a good time. Using simple instruments to make music, maybe a home made drum or rattle, is really great fun and what music should be all about.

There is a one stringed Brasilian instrument called a Berimbau that has African roots. The instrument looks very much like a bow that might be used for hunting. Now this simple instrument is the precursor to pretty much all forms of stringed instrument including guitars, harps and even pianos.

You make have heard of an instrument called a Diddley Bow. This is an African American folk instrument that uses only one string or wire. These might typically be made by stretching a piece of wire along a length of wood. The string is made taught with a bridge of some kind, maybe a can, and then fretted with a slide, often a knife, piece of bone or bottleneck.

Lonnie Pitchford, a well known exponent of the Diddley Bow would make his one stringed instruments by attaching a wire to the vertical support of his front porch. In fact, making Diddley Bows in this manner, by attaching a piece of wire (often fence wire or broom wire) to a house or shack, was common practice amongst the poor workers living in the Mississippi Delta region.

The sound of the Diddley Bow is very much the sound of the blues. Many of the early blues orginators from the 1920s and 1930s got their start by twanging Diddley Bows. One popular modern day Diddly bow player is Seasick Steve. So why not make yourself a simple one string Diddley Bow today and make some music.

I’ve been playing, or should I say learning, the guitar for over thirty years but I’ve only recently discovered the fun that can be had with a simple cigar box guitar.

If you are new to cigar box guitars I should explain what they are. The clue is in the name, a cigar box guitar is a guitar made from a wooden cigar box. They tend to be home made instruments that use a cigar box as the resonator in the same way that an acoustic guitar uses its guitar body to amplify the sound from the strings.

Back in the 19th century cigar smoking was far more popular than it is today. They began to package cigars in wooden boxes from around the middle of the 19th century and people soon found a use for these boxes in various home made instruments.

Turning a cigar box into a guitar like instrument is relatively easy to achieve with a length of wood for the neck and a few tuning pegs. The simplest of cigar box guitars might have only one string, but they are commonly made with three strings and no frets. A bottleneck slide, knife or even a piece of animal bone can be used to fret the steel strings.

Cigar box based musical instruments are a traditional form of folk instrument that could easily be made using items that would otherwise have been thrown away. In recent years there has been increased interest in these simple instruments with people sharing their building expertise, tips and advice on the internet. And its not essential that you use a cigar box to make home made musical instruments. Many builders of cigar box guitars use other boxes for the resonator including biscuit tins oil drums and childrens lunch boxes.

If you are struggling with your fancy six string why not get yourself a three string cigar box guitar and join the revolution.
