Spaced Oddities at Bestival 2009
Hurry! You had better get a move on quickly. The space race is still on – its official. It is almost time for the Bestival, so you need to act fast. I am referring to the Isle of Wight Bestival 2009 and the fancy dress theme of a Space Oddity. It is probably aimed to coincide with the fortieth anniversary of the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing.
You have to move swiftly with your costume, whether you are the dashing D’Artagnon of the Millennium Falcon or a budding Barbarella. There is no need to worry if you do not have enough time. Within the confines of the festival site exists the excellent Dressing-Up Area which offers a neat range of costumes for hire. You can also find other things of interest such as retro clothing, hair styling, nail painting and the legendary moustache bar. If you like to be shinny and sparkle under the stars, then this Bestival is for you. From my previous experience, I found the people to be great and inspiring, fueling my anticipation over the whole weekend!
The Bestival 2009 is set to blast off in its now familiar setting at the Robin Hill Country Park from the 11-13 September. Massive Attack and Lily Allen are amonst the featured stars at this year’s Bestival, along with the wonderfully named ‘They Came From the Stars’.
Fortunately you don’t need a warp drive to get you there, as Wightlink operate the best IOW ferry service available. You can either book online or call 081 376 1000 to find out about the different ticket options and to hear about further details.
