How To Promote Music
Welcome to the biggest open ended question ever! In order to get a starting point, we will make a broad definition of what we are talking about: The definition of promoting music is to promote and sell various different products and services. Although obvious, it should be clear that if no one has ever heard of you or listened to your music, you will never be able to build a fan base. The subject of marketing is constantly evolving every day. • the media • magazine • Zines • community networking • living being involved in a cause • appointment • Viral advertising • shared ventures • Blogs • hand out fliers • Remixing • Pay per be on the same wavelength • furnish aways • Hosting an event • put up bandit signs • Making video and putting them online. Between internet radio stations, podcasts, twitter, facebook, search engine optimization and affiliate marketing, it really makes one wonder where does it all end?…. So where the hell do you start? When you are starting to think about how to promote your music, what’s the best way ? Preparing a “press kit” before you have established yourself as an artist is a complete and utter waste of time. First, you need to be popular with the people who live for the type of music you create, who will be fanatically loyal to you. The cluster of public who have businesses those rotate around your place. And It makes the answer for that! And the best way to promote yourself to these people is to become part of their conversation and engage with them. If you want to find out how to promote your music, you would first need to decide how best to market yourself to these people? you need to preach to those who have a vested interest in helping you. Before we discuss other topics, we should first discuss the people who are die hard music fans. These are the types of people who live and breathe for a certain type of music. The fan base are the people at the front row of your concert. They dress like you, they line up in front of you to get their shirts signed, and they’re all over the internet talking about you….I think you understand what I’m saying? If one could get this first line of people interested, there’s nothing else to get started in my own experience. If you try to get people interested who are occasional music consumers or even those who hardly ever consume music (my mum for example), its going to be really hard to get them to become fans and spread the word. As an alternative, focuses on those in the facade line, once these public are into your harmony, you can then move up the hierarchy to more standard music clients. Market yourself to the Godfathers as well as to the front line when promoting your music. Those who control various media properties and media channels, known as the Godfathers, need content/talent in order to make money – ie they have a vested interest in investing in and nurturing talent.. You get exposure You get credibility by being featured on “professional” looking media channels. You get the music industry (those who have businesses that make money via music and artists) talking about you – conversation in relation to you – and they may settle on to get in contact with you as they distinguish others in their production working with you…. Promoting music to people that don’t care can be a huge waste of time. Stay focused and take things little by little until you reach the top.
