How To Learn The Acoustic Guitar
The world if full of experts who would agree that the best place to start learning guitar is with the acoustic. But before you start you should take some acoustic guitar lessons and get some advice on buying one first. In this article we will take a look at learning the acoustic guitar for the very first time.
How do you want to learn? This is the very first question you need to ask yourself. Does learning by video sound good to you? How about learning by book? Would you like to learn through some of the free lessons online? Would you like to learn from software? Do you want to learn how to play by ear? Would you like to learn from a live instuctor? This is a major decision that can make your experience easier or harder. You also have to take into consideration what you can afford.
Next up is setting yourself up with some time to practice everyday. It is a good idea to practice everyday if you can find the time. However, the most realistic amount of time spent practicing would be 5 days per week. How long you practice each day also matters. 30 minutes per day is a good start, but you should aim for at least an hour every day to get really good.
A good tip is to practice chords and hand positions quietly. Very few people will bother to even do this, but it sure can help. You can do it while you are talking to someone, watching TV, listening to music, or at just about anytime you can spare. It might seem strange at first, but it will allow for some extra practice time in that you wouldn’t have otherwise had.
If you are learning your lessons from an instructor ask them if you can record all of your sessions. This is a wonderful idea as it lets you review the things you have learned from your instructor.
As you can probably tell there are many different ways to learn the guitar. I have just tried to provide you with some of the best ways. As you learn you should also keep in mind some good acoustic guitar songs to learn. This will help your learning process allot.
Why Being Self Taught Could Be Better When Learning The Piano
Most people will never imagine learning a piano without the guidance of a teacher. They believe that there is not much of a chance to master it without professional instruction. But despite the piano being a difficult instrument to pick up, it is not mandatory to be taught by a professional.
The piano can be taught without having a teacher. Even teachers do not have every student becoming pianists, so proficiency is not a sure result from employing one. With some discipline, the need for piano teachers can be easily removed or reduced.
Piano teachers could also have the reverse effect on someone who is keen to pick up the instrument. A strict or disagreeable teacher could sour the whole experience for a student. Without making lessons more interesting, budding pianists might decide to give up learning instead.
If there is a strict budget involved, then a piano teacher will be out of the question. Most teachers charge monthly fees that average hundreds of dollars, depending on their qualifications. They might provide some experience in guidance, but there are just as many willing teachers online who provide their opinions for free.
Being able to learn at your own pace and structure can also encourage better artistic expression. That is a freedom that might not be afforded to students in a piano school and under strict teachers. It does not encourage deeper exploration and understanding of the music as they could be influenced to play and think in a certain fixed way.
By becoming self taught, there is a more relaxed atmosphere and feel to learning how to play the piano. Some level of discipline must be applied, or it could result in a negative learning experience. But it is a method that can fit the most trying of learning ability, and easily customized for all.
There should also be considerable usage of online piano lessons that are freely available. They will add to the whole experience, and can be suitable substitutes for piano teachers. The personal touch is lacking, and sometimes it might still take some human explanation to understand certain points. But these can be replaced by getting involved with communities who have a passion for the instrument.
A piano teacher can have its own advantages, but learning how to play yourself can be beneficial as well. In fact, it could be easier to learn the piano yourself, and indulge in endless hours of fun with music that you enjoy. The millions of self taught professional musicians worldwide will not disagree at all.
Learning To Play Guitar
When I was younger, I really wasn’t interested in learning classical guitar. To tell you the truth, I didn’t know of it’s existence. My parents loved classical music, but I never got into it that much. Although my first passion was rock and roll, clasical guitar was always around me I dreamed of becoming a rock guitarist, playing before crowds of thousands and earning huge amounts of money from it. Obviously, classical guitar didn’t fit into that.
Clearing out the garage one day Dads old classical Guitar came to light. I had no understanding that the soft strings and headstock design were different to either metal strung acoustic guitars or electric axes, since I had never seen an instrument up close previously. I figured that all guitars were like this, So I asked my dad to teach me to play. He showed me a few things that evening, and my practice became nonstop.
Practising on the classical guitar is very much easier than other guitars. As a beginner playing an acoustic guitar, your fingers get very painful. Since classical guitars use softer strings, this problem is less severe. even beginners can play continuosly. This makes it much less frustrating during the first few weeks.
Finally I discovered that what I was playing was classical guitar, but by then I was too into it to care. I was greatly enjoying the music I was playng on this beautiful instrument. The great thing about learning classical guitar is that it becomes easy later to pick up rock ‘n roll. All other guitar music is by comparison extremely simple. Learning classical music will give you all the tools to easily take it up anytime you want to. As a matter of fact, some of the best lead guitar players out there nowadays are classically trained.
If you are thinking about taking up guitar, at least give classical guitar some thought. Try out some free online classical guitar lessons. Take a look at what the teacher is doing and make a decision if you like it. Even if you eventually discover that classical guitar is not your style, you won’t have lost anything. Actually, you will have started with a good musical foundation that will make you a better rock player than if you hadn’t studied classical music.

Your choice of guitar is the first thing you will need to consider. The best starter guitar is the acoustic. How to Save Time and Money Learning to Play Guitar
Learning how to play the guitar today is much different then it would be learning before dvd’s and the Internet. Where I was using a 30 page book by Hal Leonard to get started with the basics, teenagers today can buy guitar instruction dvds and have their own personal instructor at home in their living room.
I want to explain the benefits of teaching yourself guitar from a dvd rather then taking private guitar lessons.
Let’s Save some Money
Guitar lessons aren’t cheap. You’ll find it costs between $15 and $25 per lesson each week if you find someone local to teach you.If you compare one year of lessons at about $500 dollars with $100 – $200 for a good guitar instruction dvd course and you’re saving big money after a year.
If you buy a good guitar instruction course such as Learn & Master guitar then you’re getting at least a years worth of quality guitar lesson content you can use.
Time Savings
If you’re an adult then you have a job, family and friends you have to tend to each day.If you’re an adult then being able to take a guitar lesson on your own time makes it easier to integrate into your current day-to-day life.
It can be no easy task to get to a guitar lesson at the exact same time every Tuesday night if you have other responsibilities to deal with. Especially if there are kids to cart around to engagements and other social and family items to tend to.
When learning using dvd guitar lessons you can sit down and watch and learn and entire lesson when you have the time to commit, that may or may not be at the same time each week.
What are you Looking for?
Look for guitar lessons on dvd that are made by a reputable guitar player, and ensure that the content on the dvds will carry you through for at least a few months. Many of the less expensive dvd lessons are basic, and only cover one part of learning guitar. These types of dvd lessons won’t get your very far.
If you can see a sample of the video quality used on the dvds before purchasing this would be ideal. It makes no difference how good the teacher is, if the dvd is crappie you won’t learn very much.

What is the Fastest Method to Learn Guitar
I believe the fastest way to learn guitar is using video. When I was first learning how to play I used to use a book. I found this to be far to cumbersome, and I was never sure if I was learning things the right way.
Had there been access to the web when I started I would have been taking full advantage of all the different free resources available including YouTube and Google Video.
Each of these video sites offers a ton of great free content. I’ve always found that watching someone do something like playing guitar is far more helpful then trying to learn it from a book or article.
WorkShopLive Guitar Lessons
Keeping with the video concept, there is a great new online guitar lessons website setup called Work Shop Live. You can visit their site and give it a test drive with the free lessons they offer by signing up.
From all the online membership sites I’ve looked at, Work Shop Live has to be the best. The instructors are top notch, and the videos are shot from several different angles so you’re sure to be able to watch both the strumming hand, and hand on the guitar neck.
TO learn guitar fast this would be my second stop.
Start Jamming Regularly
It isn’t the easiest step to take when you’re first starting out, but you’ll learn much faster when you start jamming with others who are better then you.
It’s embarrassing at first to try and keep up with your friends, but they will be a wealth of information if you get the courage to show up on a Friday night to jam. You can learn more jamming on your acoustic guitar with friends for two hours then you might learn all month watching free guitar lesson videos.
The top priority if you want to learn guitar fast is to get started today.Knowing where you can get the information isn’t going to actually make you better. Instead you need to visit the video sites, checkout Work Shop Live and start learning the basics today.
Where You Can Find Music Videos Online
Music videos are a big deal on YouTube. Whether you’re looking for the latest new release or something from the 1980s, you can find just about anything on this popular video sharing site! There are many things you can do with these musical videos: simply watch them, blog about them, email them, post them on your profile or add them in the comments section of your friend’s social networking profile!
Have you dreamt of being on American Idol? Do you write or perform your own music and wish to be discovered? Well, posting your original music videos on YouTube just might make you world-famous! Just ask Chris Crocker, whose rants about Britney Spears scored him a spot in Weezer’s latest music video. Then there’s Terra Naomi, whose YouTube music clips earned her a recording contract with Island Records. Similarly, unknown artist Esmee Denters toured with Justin Timberlake, following his viral video debut!
Before attending a live concert, nothing will pump you up more than watching music videos from that band! Or perhaps you’d like to revisit your childhood and have an “80s music video marathon!” Have a crush on a singer? You can drool over the Myspace videos or even embed it into your social networking profile! If you missed Coldplay performing on The Colbert Report, then don’t fret because YouTube will have it! Perhaps you were a big fan of the Henry Rollins Show or TRL, of which you can also watch free episodes of online. There are countless reasons why you might need to get your music video fix.
Myspace videos are picking up steam, but still lag behind the more established YouTube selection. If you want to post a video on your Myspace profile, then it doesn’t really matter which site you pull the video codes from, as they both work essentially the same way. There are also third party sites, like www.pimpmyspace.com, that allow you to snag music for your site. To add music videos to your site, you’ll need the code with the words “,” not just the url. Just highlight and cut the entire code, go into your Myspace editor and paste the code into one of your windows. A good place to add music is in the “favorite music” section, but you may also choose to add it under “heroes,” “television,” “general” or “about me.”

Right. A truly talented musician would teach guitar lessons in some retail shop’s back room. You will learn more with someone who can play a respectable rendition of music than trying to learn from a book. There’s more to becoming a good guitar player then just teaching yourself simple chords.
I learned to play cowboy chords from my roommate.
His concept of rhythm was just a steady strum which was a bit quicker for different tunes. It wasn’t to long after I started learning that my room mate appeared to be the beginner as I learned more and more about the guitar. How is that possible? It seems I had an instinctive notion that music was more than a monotone strumming of a chord to make sound. It didn’t matter how long we jammed, he just couldn’t get past that boring same old strum.
There’s a trick to getting your fingers to bend or stretch just right for good tone.
It takes exercises and practice in order to get your hand to be able to manipulate just the right way to make chords and the right sound. If you don’t press each string with even pressure your music will be sour. Before I had anyone teach me how to move my fingers correctly and where to push down to make good barre chords etc. I just stuck to playing simple songs that were in E G C and D.
Trying to get past the cowboy chords with only a book proved fruitless.
I ended up getting so busy with everything else in life my guitar ended up finding a permanent home under my bed. Imagine my excitement when I found that you could learn all the more complex scales, chords and fingering from an accomplished musician.Real Time Lesson I could use Around My Crazy ScheduleLearning how to play guitar online, it was a fantastic idea.
